Some even have the nerve to ask you to pay them! What was it that P.T. Barnum said, “There’s a ……..born every minute” Short and sweet, here is the scoop on FFA’s. THEY DON’T WORK.

You put your information in to join an FFA and what happens? You get a truckload of autoresponder e-mails from every TOM, DICK and HARRY wanting you to join them. No one ever actually reads your ad. I am still getting autoresponder e-mails sent to me from FFA’s I joined a year ago. I did exactly as I was supposed to for maximum exposure.

Well, overnight I had 300 plus e-mails sent to me. I thought to myself, “I’ve found a gold mine!” Why hadn’t I tried this sooner? Well, after reading a bunch of them, I realized that they were all ads wanting me to join their club or business.

I tried replying to those e-mails with my own and guess what happened! I got the same letters back again! It didn’t take long for me to realize that no-one was actually reading my ad. This form of advertising to make your riches on the net gets the big International Millenium 2000 Group raspberry!!

BANNER ADS

This form of advertising for your business, affiliate or associate program, can bring in a few people who are curious about what you do if your banner is extremely well laid out, catchy, and makes people curious. If you are an advertising professional, you can do this, otherwise you have to spend a great deal of money to have a designer make one for you.

There are places to go to make free banners, however, you are very limited to what you can do with them and they end up looking like they’re free (not very professional). When you do a banner exchange, there are some places that will do a “one to one” exchange.

In other words, you place their banner on your site and they will put your banner on their site. Most banner exchange programs work on a “two for one” basis. You place two banners of theirs and they place one of yours. Let’s think about this for a minute and do a little math. Don’t get scared off now! I’ll do the math for you. OK - here we go.

How many people do you suppose should see your banner ad in order for you to have a decent sign up rate or sell a good number of your products? Well, I believe that with a good ad campaign, the average response rate should be 1 out of 10 (sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower). Also, all research shows this to be the case. Using 1 out of 10 as a guide, that means you have to place your banner in front of 1000 people to get a response from 100. This should result in about 25 sales out of 1000 who see your banner ad (again, sometimes higher, sometimes lower according to the research done on good solid advertising campaigns ).

OK now - here’s where it gets ridiculous. This means 4000 people need to see your banner to make 100 sales. So, in order to get maximum exposure and be rich in 30 - 45 days (as they all claim!) you need to place your banner in 4000 different sites - that means at a 2 to 1 ratio, you will have 8000 banners on your site!! How unrealistic!!

You can put your banner on just a couple of sites and wait for great numbers of people to eventually see it, but the idea here is for you to see a profit in your lifetime, not your grandchildren’s. Take a look a professional web sites that sell products or recruit for affiliates or associates and see if they have other business’s banners on their pages. Most of the bigger and reputable companies do not. Free banner exchange programs do not work and basically waste your valuable time!

SEARCH ENGINE SUBMITTAL

Submitting to search engines can bring you a lot of targeted prospects. There are hundreds of search engines to submit to, however, if you choose to do this, I suggest you concentrate on the top 10 or 15 search engines such as Yahoo, Hot.Bot, Alta vista, Excite, Lycos, Webcrawler, etc. You can submit your site to 10 of the top search engines by using your favorite search engine such as google and type in free search engine submital. The best way to submit however, is one at a time through their own sites. Search engines can take up to 2 to 4 weeks to post your site - if it gets posted at all. You have to write proper and catchy meta tags into your web HTML in order for the search engine spiders to read your site and place it. There are lots of good learning tools for doing this.

The bottom line is that it takes a lot of time and energy to learn to submit to search engines properly so you can hopefully be in the top ten or 20 listings. (anything lower than that and no one will see your site and you are wasting your time) I don’t know about you, but I have so many other things to do in a day to keep my business running that I don’t have time to concentrate properly on submitting to search engines. EZINES, CLASSIFIED ADS, ARTICLES AND PRESS RELEASES

After the Search Engines, these are my favorite, as well as the some of the most productive ways of advertising.

Ezines

There are Ezines that will place free ads and Ezines that place paid ads. I placed a lot of free ads over the years and never recieved any decent response from them. The paid ads range from around $5.00 to $20.00. I find this extremely reasonable considering that you send in one ad and they send it out to hundreds or thousands of targeted prospects. Most people who subscribe to ezines are looking for good affiliate programs and good information on starting and running an online business. In my humble opinion, Ezines are one of the best means of advertising there is.

Classified Ads

Classified ads also work if you learn to write professional and eye catching ads. This is not hard. Anyone can do this. I have put together the most up-to-date information on writing ads you will find. Lots of things have changed over the years for selling online and most still teach you the old ways keeping the newest and most successful ways a secret unto themselves. I won’t do that. Articles for Ezines and newsletters can help you pass on valuable information to help people learn. When you do this, people will trust you and want to deal with you or buy from you. When writing articles, make sure you know what you are talking about. Write about what you know, not what you have heard. If you are questioned on your article, you have to be able to back it up. Honesty is the best policy. Press releases can also bring you a lot of exposure.

I have done this a few times over the years for various businesses I have started and built from scratch. For example, I started a local tourist magazine in my hometown, wrote a press release and sent it out to all the local newspapers and radio stations. Some of the papers published my letter and some of the radio stations interviewed me and put me on the air to talk about my business venture. This was free advertising that normally would cost tens of thousands of dollars.
